Senior Strategy & Outreach Manager – Strategy, Dissemination & Community Organizing
Primary Focus – Strategy, Organizing & Dissemination (~ 60%)
Strengthen grassroots organizing by working closely with worker-owned co-ops and unions, mentoring local leaders, and ensuring all initiatives remain community-driven.
Lead media and dissemination efforts by shaping our research and field insights into press releases, op-eds, social media campaigns, podcasts, short videos, and workshop toolkits.
Organize and facilitate public events such as community forums, panel discussions, and teacher trainings focused on CGSSE, cooperative economics, labor rights, and gender equity.
Develop policy materials including policy notes, position papers, and RTI applications, while building strong relationships with community leaders, government officials, legislators, and media.
Represent our nonprofit at conferences and coalition meetings, effectively communicating our mission in both Tamil and English.
Secondary Focus – Organizational Development & Mentorship (~ 40%)
Implement project management tools, documentation standards, and feedback mechanisms to maintain alignment across cross-functional teams.
Mentor junior staff and interns in community engagement, ethical research practices, and effective communication.
Collaborate with finance and legal teams to ensure compliance with relevant local and state regulations.
Provide leadership support by acting as program lead when team members are in the field, ensuring smooth continuity of all initiatives.
Essential:
Master’s degree or higher in Social Work, Sociology, Development Studies, Communications, Public Policy, or a related discipline.
At least 8–10 years of experience leading grassroots campaigns, union organizing, or cooperative development, preferably in Tamil Nadu.
A mid-career professional with demonstrated leadership in community organizing, capable of independently guiding teams, driving new initiatives, and representing our organization in high-level forums with seasoned judgment and energy.
Skill Set:
Demonstrated experience in media production across press, radio, digital, or film, with a strong ability to lead public dissemination efforts.
Practical knowledge of RTI processes, basic legal research, and policy drafting.
Skilled in designing and facilitating participatory workshops for diverse age groups.
Proficient in both Tamil and English (spoken and written); additional Indian languages are a plus.
Comfortable using productivity and collaboration tools such as project management software, basic design applications, and cloud-based platforms.
Preferred:
Experience managing or scaling a small NGO or social enterprise.
Familiarity with Indian labor laws, cooperative regulations, or gender equality legislation.
A portfolio showcasing published op-eds, documentaries, or multimedia campaigns.

Monthly compensation: Rs. 35,000 – Rs. 50,000, commensurate with experience.
Full-time role with a renewable 2-year contract.
Work location: Chennai, with regular local travel as part of the role (commute expenses will be reimbursed by ECTE).
