We are seeking a motivated and passionate individual to join our team as the Social Media & Digital Communications Lead. The ideal candidate will bring strong visual design skills, excellent writing proficiency in both Tamil and English, and a deep commitment to social justice and grassroots storytelling. You will work closely with our team to manage and amplify digital storytelling and outreach across our three organizations — VPMS, ACE, and ECTE. This role includes daily content creation, visual storytelling, platform management, and campaign strategy to highlight the voices of women workers, educators, and community leaders.
Social Media Strategy & Execution:
Develop and manage customized content calendars for VPMS, ACE, and ECTE across platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
Create visually compelling and accessible content—including reels, carousels, stories, quotes, and community videos—that reflects each organization’s mission and voice.
Maintain a consistent visual identity, tone, and message across all platforms.
Monitor engagement and performance metrics, suggest improvements, and experiment with new formats to expand reach and impact.
Campaigns & Storytelling:
Work closely with program teams to turn fieldwork, events, and research into dynamic digital campaigns.
Support the launch of new initiatives with teaser content, countdowns, testimonials, and interactive storytelling tools.
Capture and share key milestones, community voices, and success stories in a respectful, powerful way.
Design & Production:
Use tools such as Canva, Figma, or Adobe Suite to design social media graphics, posters, and short-form videos.
Maintain an organized archive of photos and videos; coordinate occasional content shoots when needed.
Team Coordination & Support:
Mentor junior team members or interns assisting with digital content.
Conduct media and storytelling training sessions for colleagues.
Liaise with web developers, photographers, and external designers as required.
Essential:
2–4 years of experience in social media management, digital communications, or storytelling—preferably in the nonprofit or advocacy space.
Proficiency in Tamil and English (spoken and written), with strong captioning and copywriting skills in both languages.
Strong visual design instincts and hands-on experience with content creation tools like Canva or Adobe Spark.
Proven ability to juggle multiple content streams and deliver consistent, high-quality posts.
Deep alignment with values of gender justice, labor rights, and community-led organizing.
Preferred:
Experience working with grassroots groups, collectives, or unions.
Familiarity with ethical storytelling practices, including data privacy and safe representation.
Basic skills in video editing or motion graphics.
Working knowledge of newsletters or web platforms such as Mailchimp or WordPress.

Monthly compensation: Rs. 20,000 – Rs. 30,000, commensurate with experience.
Full-time role with a renewable 2-year contract.
Work location: Chennai, with regular local travel as part of the role (commute expenses will be reimbursed by ECTE).
